The Senior Accountant role reports directly to a Manager or Senior Manager and requires a minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience, as well as the CPA designation. This role requires strong analytical and problem solving skills, a team oriented approach and the ability to work independently, strong communication skills, as well as the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Tax

  • Preparation of corporate tax returns
  • Preparation of personal tax returns
  • Knowledge of tax planning for shareholder remuneration
  • Knowledge of tax planning for associated groups including inter-company transactions.

Notice to Reader Engagements

  • Peparation of working paper files with high level of complexity
  • Process files with a significant number of complex journal entries
  • Preparation of complete financial statements with minimal changes required
  • Knowledge of accounting for investment transactions
  • Correspond directly with client staff to obtain required information
  • Follow up on any enquiries from Supervisor, Manager or Partner.

Assurance Engagements (ASPE and IFRS Exposure)

  • Process audit tasks with high level of complexity
  • Assist with audit planning
  • Prepare review engagements with high level complexity
  • Complete drafts of financial statements with standard note disclosure and identify need for additional non-standard note disclosure
  • Provide guidance to junior and intermediate staff
  • Liaise with client staff during engagement.

  • CCH Taxprep - T1, T2, T3 and Forms
  • CCH Document Manager
  • XCM Project Manager.

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • CPA designation
  • 3 years of public accounting experience.
